26 January 2010 AIS Display
Hello,
Over the last number of years AIS (Automatic Information System) for promulgating information on commercial traffic has become more and more common. SOLAS requires all commercial shipping of 300GRT (Gross Registered Tonnage) or more to compulsory transmit their AIS information.

We have updated the clubs website to display this information. This can be accessed through the Links -> Clubs & Organisations section of the website. To view all traffic in the lower harbour click on the "AIS - Cork Harbour" link. From there you can zoom in, zoom out, move the screen around, gather information on any of the ships shown. By clicking on the Marine Traffic logo at the bottom of the screen you can check out traffic globally.

Who knows, maybe all going well this year we might be able to keep a weather eye on Explorer from our own armchairs!

Anyway, feel free to have a look at it.
